A couple of upsets marked the penultimate day of the annual Stockton Pro Open tournament on Saturday at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center on the University of the Pacific campus.
Fourth seeded Lloyd Harris, a 21-year-old from South Africa, came back from a 5-1 deficit to win the first-set tiebreaker then stormed full steam ahead to oust No. 1 seed Jordan Thompson of Australia in the men’s singles semifinals, 7-6 (6), 6-2.
Harris, who stands 6-foot-5, advanced to today’s 11 a.m. final of the $100,000-purse event, where he will face another Australian in No. 8 seed Marc Polmans, who eliminated Maxime Janvier of France 6-1, 6-4 in the other semifinal.
