The Pacific softball team started its season Friday with a doubleheader split. At the same time, head coach Brian Kolze started his 27th season at the helm with a major milestone.
With the Tigers’ 11-0 win over Buffalo in six innings at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Classic, Kolze earned his 750th career win, becoming the 50th Division I coach in history to reach the mark.
Pacific played Northwestern next in the tournament, falling 7-0.
Against Buffalo, Pacific scored six runs in the top of the third inning for a 6-0 lead. Madison Kahwaty hit a solo home run later in the contest, with Linden graduate Carly Lucchetti adding a triple and Caity Sung driving in three.
