The most successful season in the history of the Delta women’s soccer program has come to an end.
The Mustangs lost to undefeated Santiago Canyon 2-1 on Friday in the CCCAA state semifinals in Ventura. The Hawks (24-0-0) will play for the state title at 2 p.m. Sunday against Lake Tahoe (21-0-4), which beat San Bernardino Valley 2-0 in the semifinals.
Luli Bethencourt gave Santiago Canyon the lead just 3:40 into the match, and Haley McDevitt put the Hawks up by two goals at 84:13.
Forward Jaylin Meza scored the only goal for the Mustangs (19-5-3) in the 90th minute on a free kick.
