Thanks to a big second half, the Delta College women’s basketball team finished Sunday as champions of the Solano Showdown tournament.
The Mustangs led 29-28 at halftime, then went on a 51-15 run after the break to beat host Solano 80-43 in the tournament’s championship game.
Paiton Demps had 16 points for Delta (8-3), with Kendall Weary adding 15 points and Sankia Braxton contributing 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Demps was named the tournament MVP, with all-tournament honors going to Alexa Brand and Braxton.
The Mustangs will play at Laney at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
