The Delta College softball team entered Friday’s opening round of the Northern California Regional Playoffs after a long layoff — 10 days to be exact.
The Mustangs may not have been as sharp as they wanted to be. But they played well enough to earn a crucial victory.
Delta beat Porterville 3-2 at home Friday, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-game series. The Mustangs will play at noon today to try and close it out, with a potential game three following if Porterville ties the series.
Morgan Wheeler went 3 for 3 for Delta (33-5), and Mikaela Ferreira added a pair of hits.
