STOCKTON, Calif. - Former Pacific men's basketball sharpshooter Alec Kobre won a gold medal for the United States men's basketball team in the 20th annual Maccabiah Games held in Israel from July 4-18, 2017. The United States went 6-0, which included a 75-67 championship victory over France.
Kobre averaged 9.8 points per game in the tournament with his best effort of 17 points coming against Belgium. Kobre's coach was none other than NCAA analyst and FOX sportscaster, Doug Gottleib.
Gottlieb commended Kobre by saying, "We opened the game featuring Alec's shooting because as soon as he hit his first couple of three's, we got the defense switching.
