STOCKTON — Seventeen seconds into the second half, Saint Mary’s College men’s soccer buried any remaining hope for Pacific.
Jake Rudel, a 6-foot-3 forward, headed in his second goal of the evening and the No. 9 Gaels stayed stout defensively in throttling the Tigers 4-0 on Sunday in their West Coast Conference opener at Knoles Field.
The loss matched Pacific’s most lopsided defeat in the modern era of the program. When the Tigers returned from a 29-year hiatus in 2014, they were beaten by a four-goal margin four separate times.
On Sunday, Pacific did not have a shot on goal.
