Lincoln freshman pitcher Peja Goold assured her coach she could handle pressure of going against powerhouse Tracy. And she went out and proved it.
Goold struck out seven and allowed four hits as the Trojans stunned the Bulldogs 1-0 on Tuesday in a TCAL matchup at Tracy. The Bulldogs (14-5, 11-1) had not lost a league game since 2016.
Lincoln coach Natalee Owens said she was impressed by Goold’s composure.
“From the beginning of the game, she said to me ‘I have this,’ ” Owens said. “With the heat and everything, I asked her a few times during the game if she still had this, and she said she did.
