Free throw woes doom Pacific

STOCKTON – For every big shot the Pacific women’s basketball team hit Friday night, there was a missed free throw to drag things down.

The Tigers opened their Turkey Tip-Off Thanksgiving Tournament with a 72-66 loss to Montana State, as a 48 percent free-throw performance overshadowed a cohesive defensive effort and clutch baskets from multiple players.

Pacific (2-3) led at every quarter break, but went 12 for 25 from the stripe to give the Bobcats (2-3) an opportunity to squeak past. Montana State shot 70 percent from the line, going 4-for-6 in the final minute.

Margreet Barhoum broke a 64-64 tie with 38 seconds left on a 3-pointer to put Montana State ahead for good.
