STOCKTON — Diego Villapadua left his Pacific men’s soccer teammates in disbelief twice in a two-minute span Sunday evening.
Soon after an “easy” shot hit the crossbar, the local freshman sent sent the ball in a long arc over the head of Cal State Bakersfield goalkeeper Detre Bell.
It gave the Tigers some breathing room in a 5-2 victory against the Roadrunners at Knoles Field and took the pressure off Villapadua, a Ben Holt graduate.
“My teammates, when I came in to celebrate, they said, ‘We were going to yell at you, but never mind, you made it,’” Villapadua said.
