STOCKTON – A slow start gave way to a big finish for the Delta College softball team.
The Mustangs fell behind by two runs early, but their offense eventually warmed up, and Katie Buhrkuhl smacked a three-run home run to enact the mercy rule in the fifth inning as Delta beat Diablo Valley College 10-2 on Tuesday at Bucky Layland Softball Complex.
It wasn't pretty at times, but the Mustangs improved to 14-3 and 4-1 in the Big 8 and remained tied for first place in the conference with Sierra, which beat American River 10-2 on Tuesday.
