STOCKTON — Michael Fancey admits his specialty isn’t for everyone.

“It definitey takes a certain someone to do it,” he said.

Fancey’s specialty is running at full speed with a 16-foot-long fiberglass pole in his hands hoping to fling himself over a bar suspended more than 16 feet off the ground. The pole vault certainly is not for everyone, but it’s one of Fancey’s favorite ways to spend the day.

“I enjoy a lot of things. This summer I’m doing a Tough Mudder (endurance race) with my sister,” said Fancey, a 20-year-old sophomore at San Joaquin Delta College out of Brentwood-Liberty High.
