STOCKTON — Former University of the Pacific men's basketball head coach Ron Verlin has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the university alleging he was the victim of a two-prong plan orchestrated by Athletic Director and Vice President Ted Leland: the first part of the plan was to end an affair between assistant basketball coach Joe Ford and Leland's adult daughter. The second part was to hire former NBA player Damon Stoudamire as Pacific's men's basketball head coach.
Leland and University President Pamela Eibeck are the defendants in the suit filed March 2 in San Joaquin County Superior Court.
