STOCKTON – Pacific volleyball coach Greg Gibbons thought he had little to no chance that Lexi Elman would play for him.
It wasn’t that Elman didn’t enjoy her recruiting visit. But her mother, Jennifer, didn’t appear fond of the idea of having her daughter go to college so far from their home in Omaha, Nebraska.
Elman surprised Gibbons and her family when she chose to carve her path at Pacific. And what transpired the ensuing four years was a career that ranks among the greatest in Pacific history.
Elman, a 6-foot outside hitter and soon-to-be four-time All-West Coast Conference honors recipient, played her final indoor match for the Tigers on Tuesday at USF.
