SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The ninth annual Battle in the Bay Classic wrapped up on Sunday as Akram El Sallaly and Bernardo Oliveira, who were competing unattached from Pacific and competing in the tournament on their own, defeated Anders Holm and Nicolas Moreno de Alboran from Santa Barbara, 8-7(6) in the men's open doubles final.
The final proved to be a nail-biter as the duo from Stockton kept it close throughout the match. El Sallaly and Oliveira started down 1-4, but went on to rally to make it 3-4. They continued to win their service points to make it 4-5 then 5-6 before tying it up 6-6.
