For the second year in a row, the Delta women’s soccer team saw its season end in the state semifinals to Santiago Canyon.
The Hawks beat the Mustangs 1-0 Friday afternoon at DeAnza College in Cupertino after Ashley Roskelly headed in a goal off a corner kick from Breanna Diaz in the 20th minute.
In the chaos in front of the net, the California Community College Athletic Association initially reported it as an own goal, unable to pinpoint who tipped the ball. But CCAA commentators Joe Hickey and Emery Johnson stated on the live YouTube feed that Roskelly was the scorer.
