STOCKTON — As its middle blockers develop, the Delta College volleyball team is becoming a more versatile and unpredictable opponent.
Considering the Mustangs are already defending state runners-up — that’s bad news for the competition.
Those middle blockers, Kelly Markham and Angel Lambert, combined for 13 kills and five blocks as the Mustangs topped the Sierra College Wolverines 25-22, 27-29, 25-19, 25-20 in a Big 8 Conference match Wednesday at Marcopulos Gym.
Markham came alive in the final game, delivering multiple kills and an ace in short order to bury Sierra (11-4, 4-2 Big 8). Lambert, a Lincoln High graduate, was steady throughout and posted a team-high four blocks.
