STOCKTON - A marquee matchup between No. 4 Diablo Valley and No. 6 Delta went down to the final minutes, but the Delta women couldn't rally in an important Big 8 Conference game Friday at Blanchard Gymnasium.
Delta lost 85-77 to the Vikings in the opening contest of a doubleheader, and the Delta men also lost, 75-66.
In the women's game, Diablo Valley (20-4, 7-1 Big 8) broke a 17-17 tie late in the first quarter with a 13-0 run, and Delta (18-6, 5-3) didn't threaten to take the lead again until 1 minute, 30 seconds were left in the game.
