What was supposed to be a three-team, round-robin style tripleheader on President’s Day turned into a twinbill Monday between the Delta and Butte College softball teams. And, despite a hard freeze warning in effect for the Stockton area, both teams’ bats thawed out just enough to take one from the other.
Delta split a pair of games Monday with visiting Butte, taking the opener 9-6 before falling 10-4 in the nightcap. East Union grad Taylor Ward had three triples on the day for Delta (3-8) and Samantha Martinez totaled five hits and three RBIs between the two games.
