STOCKTON – The big plays were there for the Delta College football team in the fourth quarter.
The Mustangs rallied to take Diablo Valley College to overtime Saturday afternoon but were unable to pull off one more cinema-style feat in a 28-22 loss at Lawrence A. De Ricco Athletic Field.
Too many “coulda beens” gnawed at the Mustangs immediately after the loss. Penalties at the wrong time, a staunch defense and five sacks kept Delta from doing more.
“I think ultimately when we evaluate this game there were more than 22 points we should have accounted for during regulation,” Delta head coach Gary Barlow said.
