STOCKTON – A four-run inning is a quick and effective way to cool off the hottest team in the region.

Ohlone showed up at Delta College on Friday riding a 16-game winning streak into the CCCAA Northern California Regional Finals. But the top-seeded Mustangs greeted the Renegades with four runs in the bottom of the first inning on their way to a 7-2 win at Delta’s Nick Cecchetti Field. The Mustangs (39-7) can wrap up its sixth trip to the state Final Four in nine years with a win against Ohlone at 1 p.m. today.

“The first inning was key, and I thought we came out ready to play and hit the ball,” Delta head coach Reed Peters said.
