  • FRESNO – Three runs, two hits, four errors.
That was the fateful line score in the bottom of the eighth inning for Golden West (30-14) as it took advantage of an uncharacteristically shaky defensive inning for Delta (31-12) to rally for an 8-6 win on Saturday afternoon at John Euless Ballpark in the opening game of the California Community College Athletic Association Baseball State Championships. The loss snapped the Mustangs’ six-game win streak in the postseason.
“You have to give them credit. They came up with some big two-out knocks all throughout the game and had good at-bats with two outs and kept fighting,” Delta coach Reed Peters said.
