STOCKTON — To Delta College baseball head coach Reed Peters, not a day goes by without thinking of the late Calvin Riley.
The Mustangs wear a No. 27 on their sleeves, and the former Mustangs pitcher’s number is displayed prominently on the outfield wall of Nick Cecchetti Field.
“We keep him in mind every day,” Peters said.
Still, the coach said, it was special to hold Calvin Riley Memorial Day on Saturday, when the Mustangs played the finale of a game-three series against visiting Folsom Lake. The day is in honor of Riley, who was shot and killed in 2016 at the age of 20, and raised funds for the Calvin Riley Memorial Scholarship.
