The defending state champion Delta College baseball team scored five runs in both the first and second innings, and cruised to a 24-4 victory over visiting Taft in a non-league game Tuesday at Nick Cecchetti Field.
The Mustangs (4-1) outhit the Cougars (1-5) 16-5. Vinny Bologna was 4-for-4 including a grand slam in the first inning, a triple, seven RBI and six runs scored. Anthony Lucchetti went 2 for 2 with a double and RBI, and Jimmy McClenaghan was 2 for 5 with three RBI and a double.
Starting pitcher Clayton Westrope went five innings, allowing one earned run and striking out five.
