Cougars break out early, cruise past Tigers

By Kevin Niendorf / Record Correspondent

STOCKTON — The Pacific Tigers have struggled all season at giving up multiple runs early in games, and Friday’s game against BYU was no different.

The Tigers lost 12-1 in front of 393 fans at Klein Family Field, and will try to avoid being swept by their third West Coast Conference opponent when the Cougars and Tigers wrap up their three-game series beginning at 1 p.m. today.

The Tigers (12-17, 2-9 WCC) have dropped six of their last seven games, and have been outscored 80-42 in conference action.

Pacific’s lone run occurred in the first inning after Kevin Sandri was hit by a pitch, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Danny Mayer.
