COLLEGE GOLF: Tigers finish for ninth at Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON — The Pacific Tigers played the par-five holes well to climb a notch Saturday to finish tied for ninth place among the 16 teams in the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational that began Thursday and concluded Saturday at the Stockton Golf and Country Club.

Nevada rode the game of sophomore Joey Vrzich, who shot a blistering course record 61, to lift the Wolf Pack past BYU on the final day for first place with a team score of 814 (38-under par) with a sizzling team score of 262 Saturday.

BYU took second with an 826 (26-under) followed by San Francisco at 828 (24-under), while Pacific tied for ninth place with California Baptist with a final team tally of 861(nine-over par).
