A clutch 3-pointer from Roberto “Bertie” Gallinat has given the Pacific men’s basketball team a dose of much-needed momentum heading into the West Coast Conference tournament.
Gallinat’s 3 with less than 90 seconds remaining gave Pacific the lead for good in its 73-72 victory over Pepperdine in both teams’ regular-season finale Saturday.
Now, the ninth-seeded Tigers face the No. 8 Waves in the first round of the WCC tourney at 6 p.m. today at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
Pacific (14-17, 4-12 WCC) has beaten Pepperdine (13-17, 6-10) twice, but third-year Tigers coach Damon Stoudamire has no time for reading into patterns.
