STOCKTON – Sophomore Valerie Higgins scored a career-high 34 points to the lead the Pacific women’s basketball team to a victory over Portland and maintain third place in the West Coast Conference standings Saturday at Spanos Center.
In the nightcap, Pacific’s men’s team rallied late for a 16-2 run that produced a 66-59 victory over Pepperdine. Lafayette Dorsey (20 points), Roberto Gallinat (16 points) and Jeremiah Bailey (8 points) each made critical 3-pointers over that stretch to lead Pacific in its come-from-behind victory.
Pacific won the women’s game 87-77 after Higgins snapped a tie game with 10 consecutive points in the final quarter.
