STOCKTON — It didn’t take long for the Delta College women’s basketball team to set the tone against short-handed Cosumnes River.
The ninth-ranked Mustangs forced 18 first-half turnovers and raced away for an easy 95-22 Big 8 Conference victory over the Hawks on Friday evening at Blanchard Gym.
Delta sophomore Paiton Demps poured in a game-high 22 points and had four steals to lead the Mustangs (19-4, 10-1 Big 8), while teammate Sankia Braxton added a double-double 14 points and 19 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots against Cosumnes River (7-15, 3-8).
Delta freshman Trena Rathjen scored 11 points and teammates Danaya Murray and Donwanae Anthony each chipped in 10 points in the win.
