The Pacific men’s water polo team had the advantage against No. 1 USC on Saturday in Los Angeles. The Tigers just couldn’t hold it.
A 4-1 Pacific lead dissipated into an 11-8 USC win as the Trojans held off a potential upset situation.
Luke Pavillard had Pacific’s first two goals, and both Eli Lule and Andrea De Nardi scored to build the Tigers’ early lead in the first period.
In the second period, however, USC had 11 of its 19 first-half shots and went on a 5-0 scoring lead to take the lead for good.
De Nardi and Lule both scored later in the match, and Bogdan Djerkovic had two scores, but Pacific could not stop USC’s attack.
