STOCKTON - Doug Christie was in Stockton on Wednesday to deliver a message to the University of Pacific men’s basketball team. Addressing a room full of coaches, young athletes and members of the community, Christie’s words came across loud and clear.
“The ability to communicate and show respect for what you’re doing,” Christie said, “That is competition at the highest level.”
The retired NBA star was the guest speak at Pacific’s annual tip-off luncheon, held Wednesday at the Brookside Country Club. In addition to Christie, who spent five years with the Sacramento Kings and two as a teammate of Pacific head coach Damon Stoudamire on the Toronto Raptors, the Tigers’ roster for the season was introduced.
