Former University of the Pacific football coach Chester Caddas died this morning in Lexington, Kentucky.
Caddas, 83, had been in hospice care. He coached as an assistant at Pacific, from 1968-71 and served as the head football coach from 1972 to 1978. He returned to Stockton just under a year ago for a reunion of about 60 former players at the Vereschagin Alumni House at Pacific. He said then that he had a full life enjoying a sport he couldn’t get enough of, adding that he coached the previous two seasons at Lexington Christian Academy in Kentucky.
Caddas would have celebrated his 84th birthday on Tuesday.
