Finally, the WNBA is seeing the real Chelsea Gray.
The St. Mary’s High and Duke University graduate, robbed of playing time in college and early in her WNBA career by knee injuries, now is enjoying a breakout season with the defending champion Los Angeles Sparks.
“I like the responsibility that I have,” said the Sparks’ 24-year-old starting point guard from Manteca, “in just making sure everybody is on the same page.”
Last season, Gray bided her time as a reserve. She watched and learned, and when called upon, she was integral to her team earning the WNBA title.
