University of the Pacific’s volleyball team came very close to a big win against a Pac-12 team.
The Tigers won the first two games against Cal, but the Golden Bears rallied to escape with a 24-26, 22-25, 26-24, 15-11 win on Thursday at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley. Pacific (4-6) has lost three in a row, and will try to rebound in its home opener when it hosts Nevada at 1 p.m. Saturday at Spanos Center.
The Tigers stunned Cal (8-2) in the first game, trailing 24-23 and scoring the final three points. Kaitlyn Lines served an ace to finish off Cal.
