BYU sweeps past Pacific

STOCKTON – University of the Pacific’s attempt to pull off a major upset was blocked by the strong net play of BYU.

The Tigers swept by the No. 8 Cougars 25-19, 25-20, 25-16 on Saturday in women’s volleyball action at Spanos Center, ending a tough week in which Pacific played two top 25 teams at home.

The Tigers (7-11, 2-5 West Coast Conference) came close on Thursday against No. 19 San Diego, pushing the Toreros to five games. But on Saturday Pacific couldn’t solve the block of BYU (17-1, 6-0) and hit a paltry .098. with 32 kills and 22 errors in 102 attempts.
