Bruins tie NCAA record with 51st consecutive win

STOCKTON - Knowing three years ago that the Pacific water polo team had upset top-seeded USC at Chris Kjeldsen Pool, UCLA coach Adam Wright knew what the hostTigers were capable of Saturday in Pacific's home opener.

But the fourth-ranked Tigers couldn't repeat that feat against No. 1 UCLA, playing from behind for nearly the entire contest and eventually losing 9-5 in front of 1,004 fans. It was UCLA's 51st consecutive victory, which ties an NCAA record.

"Giving up nine goals to the No. 1 team in the nation is not the worst scenario," Pacific coach James Graham said.
