The MLB draft ended Wednesday, concluding a three-day roller coaster of emotions for young pro baseball hopefuls.
Mixed into the 40-round event was the excitement, the anxiety and - for a number of local athletes - the relief upon hearing their names get called.
At least nine area baseball players were selected in the MLB Draft this week, with Delta College’s Gunner Mayer getting drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies helping to highlight a Delta-heavy class.
Four other current or former Mustangs were selected in the draft. Three Pacific players were drafted, and a local high school star had his name called as well.
