STOCKTON — The Sacramento Kings plan to move their minor league franchise to Stockton, and local coaches believe the move could benefit teams on all levels.
The Kings announced on Monday their intention to move their G League team from Reno to Stockton next season, pending league approval. The team, currently named the Reno Bighorns, would play its home games at Stockton Arena.
The franchise’s roster is filled with the Kings’ top prospects, similar to the Stockton Heat hockey team’s relationship with the Calgary Flames of the NHL. Players could be competing in Stockton on Monday and called up to the Kings on Tuesday.
