In the final years of his life, Hank Sanchez would drive to Micke Grove to golf with a group of older, retired friends he’d made to relax and enjoy the conversation.

Sanchez, 30, never let his golfing group know just how sick he was. That kind of admission was never in his nature.

The former Minnesota Twins prospect, and son of McNair baseball coach Henry Sanchez Sr., was diagnosed with a rare form of throat cancer late in 2013. Hank waded through rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, but despite the misery he endured, the cancer spread through his organs.
