LOS ANGELES - The No. 5 Pacific men's water polo team was edged by No. 4 UCLA, 9-8, Saturday in the MPSF Invitational quarterfinals at USC's Uytengsu Aquatics Center.

Luke Pavillard tallied four goals for Pacific, while Kale Ai, Luis Araya, Engin Ege Colak and Ben Stevenson each scored.

John Hedges made seven saves with five steals, but UCLA's Alex Wolf made 11 saves to limit the Tigers' high-powered offense.

Pavillard scored on the Tigers first possession off a Ben Stevenson assists, but the Bruins answered right back with a goal from Max Irving to tie at 1-1.
