PALO ALTO, Calif. - In an extremely close contest, the #24 Pacific field hockey fell to #12 Stanford, 1-0 in their trip to Palo Alto Thursday evening. Under the lights, Savannah Burns led the Orange and Black with five shots as Kriekie van Wyk added three.
The first 35 was scoreless as the Tigers threatened a handful of times. Junior van Wyk had a breakaway and took the shot as the Stanford 'keeper campout of the net to make the save.
Marlise van Tonder came in clutch for Pacific as Corinne Zanolli of Stanford ripped a shot off a penalty corner to the bottom left corner when van Tonder took a dive to make the save.
