USC's rededication to the power running game earning big results

BERKELEY, Calif. -- Dozens of encyclopedia-sized foil boxes awaited USC players as they trickled out of the winning locker room Saturday.

"A lot of chicken, and a lot of mac-n-cheese," running back Tre Madden said, smiling, as he carried his load of food to the bus.

It was a grown man's meal -- a fitting reward following the Trojans' 27-21 victory over California, a mauling ground effort in which USC ran the ball 50 times compared to only 23 passes.

"Those were some really grown man runs by 23 [Madden] and 22 [Justin Davis]," coach Clay Helton said.
