The college football world woke up to the stunning news that USC has dropped the “interim” title from coach Clay Helton and officially made him the next head coach for the Trojans.
Since being elevated to the interim role (again) following Steve Sarkisian’s dismissal, Helton went 5-2 overall and 5-1 in Pac-12 play, helping the Trojans to the Pac-12 South title and a spot in this weekend’s conference championship game against Stanford.
