STANFORD, Calif. -- When cornerback Quenton Meeks arrived at Stanford last year, he wanted to make his way onto defensive backs coach Duane Akina's teaching tape.
Over more than three decades of coaching, Akina has assembled an exclusive montage of footage. It's comprised of select video clips from defensive backs he has instructed.
The first clip to make the cut came from Hawaii's Rich Miano making a play against UNLV quarterback Randall Cunningham back in 1984 -- recorded on 16 mm film of that time. Since then, Earl Thomas, Daryll Lewis, Michael Huff, Aaron Ross, Kenny Vacarro, Chuck Cecil, Michael Griffin, and Jordan Richards -- all Akina-coached players who went on to the NFL -- have worked their way onto the tape.
