The "Sophomore Slump" is a thing. It has a Wikipedia page. It's in the Urban Dictionary. We all know nothing on the Internet is ever wrong, but if you need more evidence, last August, before the 2015 season began, USA Today presented college students with "3 strategies for avoiding a sophomore slump."
It appears that several of college football's "Super Sophomore Studs of 2015" bypassed strategy No. 1 from that article -- "Intern or study abroad" -- and dipped the next two in batter and fried them up into something equating to, "Work hard; kick butt," to avoid the sophomore slump spiral.
