Football practice is being revolutionized thanks to a new virtual reality technology. Several college and NFL coaches believe this system will be everywhere in a few years.
Derek Belch got the idea for using VR to train athletes while he was on the Stanford football team in 2004. He teamed up with Professor Jeremy Bailenson—one of the brightest minds in the world of virtual reality—and the STRIVR system was born.
After much research and development, the STRIVRsystem is now being used by college football teams as well as a fast-growing number of teams in the NFL. It started with a focus on training quarterbacks and has expanded to include almost all positions.
