A month ago, Utah running back Joe Williams wasn’t even on the roster.
But last Saturday, just two weeks out of “retirement,” he joined an elite group of six running backs who have rushed for at least four touchdowns and 325 yards in a single game during the last decade. Against UCLA, he finished with four touchdowns and 332 yards.
Now, Washington’s defense must scheme against a running back that might have the freshest legs in college football.
But even against a player who’s running on Game 3 legs instead of Game 8, Huskies co-defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake said it’s more about what his group does than anything else.
