Darell Garretson learned important lessons while sitting out last year

Last season, the most qualified quarterback Oregon State had on its roster was also ineligible as he sat out because of transfer rules.

At Utah State, quarterback Darell Garretson had started 11 games, completing 63 percent of his passes. In 2013 and 2014, he threw for 2,586 yards with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Last fall at Oregon State, Garretson learned every Pac-12 offense other than his own. As quarterback of the scout team, the only defense that had to worry about Garretson was the Beavers’ defense.

So by the time the season ended, he was very ready to start playing within the Beavers' system.
