Behind powerful rushing performance USC beats California 27-21

BERKELEY, Calif. -- USC maintained position in the Pac-12 South race, overcoming a slow start to wear down California 27-21.

Suddenly, after losing three of four games amidst a whirlwind of tumult, USC has ripped off consecutive impressive wins to earn solid positioning entering November: They trail the division leaders, Utah, by only game and hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Utes.

The Golden Bears were the early aggressors Saturday -- a sharp Jared Goff and a resurgent run game put them on the board first -- but once the Trojans woke up, they never fell back asleep.
