2017 four-star forward Branden Carlson commits to Utah

Larry Krystkowiak and the Utah Utes continue to recruit big men successfully, as 2017 four-star forward Branden Carlson announced his commitment on Sunday evening. However, Carlson mentioned he intends to serve a Mormon mission after graduating high school, so he won’t be on campus until that ends, which is two years.

Carlson, from South Jordan, Utah, doesn’t have to travel very far to get to campus. South Jordan is just 25 miles from Salt Lake City. The big man also had offers from Stanford, UCLA, and BYU, among others.

The Utes still have a few spots open for next season, as scholarships for players on missions don’t kick in until the player arrives on campus.
